I first went to Sentosa Island in 2004 when there were still no Resorts World Sentosa and Universal Studios. In the past, one island had many attractions here and there and there were several artificial beaches. Until now, it's still so, just since there was Resorts World Sentosa, it seems that some areas on Sentosa Island have become much quieter because everything is stacked in RWS.
Anyway, here we want to tell you what's the excitement about Sentosa Island. Don't be confused if there are attractions that do not enter here because there are some tourist attractions that are indeed managed by RWS, it will be discussed in more detail in the post about Resorts World Sentosa.Siloso Beach.
What's on Sentosa Island?
There are so many activities carried out on Sentosa Island, even if you want to do everything, it will not be enough 1 day. So you should just be picky about what suits your interests and time. If you count it in total (with those in Resorts World Sentosa), there are currently around 31 tourist attractions. Some of them are paid, some are free.
For paid activities, you can buy package tickets. There is such a thing as a Day Fun Pass, which means that the ticket can be used for 1 day. There are 3 options:
- Play Max (play 20 attractions) – adult $81.90 / child $71.90
- Play up to 5 (play 5 of 20 attractions) – adults $59.90 / children $49.90
- Play up to 3 (play 3 of 20 attractions) – adult $44.90 / child $39.90
Some of the exciting activities include:
- Luge
- Climb to the top of Merlion Sentosa
- Segway
- Tiger Sky Tower
- 4D AdventureLand (there are 3 options)
- S.E.A Aquarium
- Trick Eye Museum
- Madame Tussauds (counts 2 attractions)
In addition to the activities for which tickets can be purchased, there are still several activities whose tickets are sold separately, for example: iFly, Kidzania, Cable Car, MegaZip.
Free Things to do on Sentosa Island
Although many activities are paid, there are also many free activities in Sentosa. You can even visit and enjoy Sentosa Island for a full day without paying for tickets for tourist attractions – so many choices of tourist activities here.
Some free sightseeing activities to enjoy on Sentosa Island:
- The photo in front of the Sentosa Merlion — to Sentosa Island is incomplete if you haven't taken a photo of the icon of Sentosa Island. The location is in Merlion Plaza, near Imbiah Station.
- Play around in his 3 artificial beaches: Siloso Beach, Palawan Beach, Tanjong Beach.
- Nature walk – take a boardwalk through the woods
- Watch the Crane Dance at 8:00 p.m. at the Waterfront.
How to get around Sentosa Island
If you look at the map, you must be shocked at first because the Sentosa Island area is really big. You can be excited if you walk around the island. Fortunately, they have a free shuttle bus that travels around with visitors to one point to another. Anyway, just look for the bus stops at certain points and see where the route is going. In essence there are 3 different bus routes (green, red, orange colors) and 1 Beach Tram whose routes are along the coast.
In addition to the Sentosa Bus and Beach Tram, you can also take the Sentosa Express. This monorail is free, if only in the Sentosa area. But if you enter/leave the station at VivoCity, you will be charged $4 because that's the count for island admission using Sentosa Express.
One more thing, even though the line is only Merlion – Imbiah Lookout – Siloso Point, there is an exciting way to explore Sentosa Island, namely by taking a cable car. This path is new, in contrast to the path from Mount Faber – Harbourfront – Sentosa. But the price of a cable car ride is quite expensive too, $13 single pass or $23 for full-day unlimited rides.
How to get to Sentosa Island
To get to Sentosa Island can be several ways, ranging from the most expensive to the cheapest:
- Cable Car Mount Faber Line — $29 adults / $18 children (included entry to Sentosa & Cable Car Museum). It's expensive but the most exciting, especially for those who bring children.
- Take a taxi — in addition to paying for the taxi fare, there's a $2 / $5 car-admission rate depending on the hour.
- Sentosa Express (monorail) from Sentosa Station on the 3rd floor of VivoCity — $4
- Bus from VivoCity to Resorts World Sentosa — $2 (PP)
- Walk through the Sentosa Boardwalk — FREE (he said there are plans to be charged a $1 admission fee, but it hasn't been implemented until now)
As for achieving VivoCity itself, there are several options:
- If taking the MRT take the purple line (North East Line) or the yellow line (Circle Line) and stop at Harbourfront (NE1 / CC29).
